Amanda Knapp, Ph.D., is the Associate Vice Provost and Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). She holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources Management, an Ed.M. in Education with a focus on Higher Education Administration, and a Ph.D. in Education Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her doctoral research explored the relationship between best online instructional practices and undergraduate student perceptions of instructor credibility. Dr. Knapp began her career working at several institutions, including the University at Buffalo, D’Youville College, and the University of Maryland Global Campus, where she held various administrative and teaching roles. Since joining UMBC in 2011, she has led efforts in student retention, progression, academic success, and graduation, using data-informed strategies to enhance student outcomes. As a first-generation college student, she is dedicated to bridging equity gaps in higher education. Outside of academia, Dr. Knapp is also an accomplished motocross racer and community volunteer.
